Margaret Ardenah Quest
January 13, 1935 - November 23, 2019

The world was graced with Margaret Ardenah (Towne) Quest on January 13, 1935. She enjoyed making everyone she encountered smile for 84 years, before passing peacefully at her daughters home in Albany, Oregon, on November 23, 2019.

Margaret was born the youngest of 5 children to Mary Esther (Waggner) and William Elijah Towne in Hardin, Montana. As a child she enjoyed gymnastics, rodeos, and developed a love for animals and arts and crafts that she carried throughout her life. She enjoyed school and graduated from Hardin High School before marrying Harold Smith on May 10, 1952. Though their marriage was brief, they welcomed a son in 1954.

She later met Donald Quest and they married on January 30, 1957, in Billings, Montana. Donald adopted little Ricky, and together they had a daughter in Hardin before moving to Salem, Oregon in 1958, where they were blessed with two more sons and three more daughters.

Margaret graduated from Salem Business College and began working for the Executive Branch of the State of Oregon in 1978. She worked at various agencies as a public servant, including the Employment Department and the Secretary of State. She retired in December 31, 2001,
after 23 years of exceptional state service.

Aside from spending time with family, attending church, completing crossword puzzles and singing silly songs, Margaret was gifted with words and loved to write. She wrote countless poems and even wrote a few novels that she hoped to publish one day.

Margaret was an incredibly generous soul that put everyone’s needs or desires before her own. She never hesitated to help someone else, no matter the sacrifice it created for her. She also possessed a spunky quick-wit that kept those around her smiling and laughing. She left her family with an abundance of hilarious “highlights”. Her grandchildren will never forget how Grandma likes her coffee.

Margaret maintained a strong relationship with the Lord and knew that a place in Heaven was waiting for her. She has been reunited in death with her Heavenly Father; her parents; her siblings Everett, Madeline, Maxine, and Bill; her granddaughter Ashley (Vargas) Pritt; and great-grandsons Noah Rogers and River Pritt.

She is survived and grieved by her three sons and four daughters: Richard Quest (Wanda), Rhonda Quest, Sammie Rogers (Randy), Kelli Vargas (Felix), Donald Quest Jr., Scott Quest (Jennifer), and Tracy Quest; 21 Grandchildren; and 22 Great-Grandchildren.

Viewing will be at Fisher Funeral home 306 SW Washington St, Albany, OR 97321 Sunday December 1, 1-3pm. Private family burial will be held Monday, December 2 at 11 am in Jefferson, Oregon. A memorial service to honor her wonderful life will be announced as soon as details are finalized. The Memorial Service will be held at Jefferson Baptist Church in Jefferson, Oregon on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at 12PM.

“Life is a song - Sing it”
Though her song has ended, the melody will carry on forever in our hearts.
Life has to end - love doesn’t.
