Memorial for Herbert Dominguez

Born in El Paso, Texas on Nov. 25, 1920
Departed on Dec. 22, 2017 and resided in Brownsville, Oregon.
 

  

Herb Dominguez known also as Chief Dominguez of Brownsville, Oregon passed away peacefully in his sleep of natural causes. He was 97 years young.

Herb was Chief of Police in Brownsville for many years and was well respected. When he retired in 1975, he served as a Security Guard at Valley River Center in Eugene for several years and after he retired from Valley River, Herb served as a Security Guard at Central Linn Hi School games and for several businesses in the Central Linn Area.

Herb was a boy scout leader, taught the Hunter Safety Education Course, and the bicycle safety course here in Brownsville. He also handled the local Emergency Fund for years helping people in times of need.

Dominguez served in WWII from May 1942 to 1946 and served 14 months overseas. Thirty-three days of Marine Corporal Dominguez tour of service was on the island of Guadalcanal in the Pacific theater. He was Honorably Discharged from Marine Barracks at Hawthorne, Nevada.

Herb was a Life Member of The American Legion for 30 years and a member of Post 184 Brownsville, Oregon. Herb was also the Linn County Veteran of The Year in 1963. Herb and Pauline were Linn County Pioneer Picnic Grand Marshals.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Dominguez and his daughter, Dolores Hook (Dominguez). He is survived by his son Rick Dominguez, three brothers, six sisters, three grandsons, one granddaughter, two great granddaughters, siblings, nieces and nephews and his companion Myrtle Cline.
