Dr. Laura Ann Miller, age 62 of Portland, Oregon, joined the Lord on September 11, 2017. She battled cancer for over a year, and passed away in Halsey at her childhood home.

Laura was born in Lebanon, Oregon to Frank H. and Lorraine A. (Davis) Miller on February 2, 1955. She grew up in Halsey on their farm with her two sisters, Karen and Dinah. During her time at Central Linn High School, Laura volunteered at Albany General Hospital, and found her passion to be a physician. She went to college at Biola University for a year and then graduated from Pepperdine University with her BA. She completed her MD at Oregon Health & Science University.

Laura was dedicated to serving as a missionary doctor in West Africa in Liberia and Guinea through SIM (Sudan Interior Mission). She received additional training from the University of Liverpool for tropical medicine and community health studies and studied French for her work in Guinea. She returned to work in the Portland area as a family medicine physician until she retired in 2015, and she also volunteered as a physician throughout the years within her community.

Laura enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, going to church, reading, playing music, and hiking. She was an avid traveler and enjoyed trips to England, Israel, and the Oregon Coast. She loved collecting Celtic and Irish treasures.

Laura is survived by her mother, Lorraine Miller; sister and brother-in-law, Dinah and Russell Dickson; brother-in-law, Doug Engel; nieces and nephew-in-laws, Aubrey and BJ Dobrkovsky and Shelby and Garrett Leabo; nephew and niece-in-law, Terry and Amanda Engel; nephew, Zane Dickson; and great-nieces and great-nephews: Bella, Gradyn, Grace, Gage, Nolan and Maley. She is preceded in death by her father, Frank Miller, and sister, Karen Engel.
