September 22, 1950 — August 21, 2017

Gladys Marlene Sanders Fenn, 66, daughter of James Ellis Sanders and Pearl Elena Martino Sanders, departed from this life on Monday, August 21, 2017. The sun itself stopped shining for a few minutes in honor of her.
Gladys graduated from Jefferson High School in 1968. Following high school, she entered Merritt Davis Business College for a year, prior to marrying the love of her life, Edward Raymond Fenn, Jr. on October 17, 1969. The two were sweethearts from the tender ages of 14 and 13, respectively.
With the patience normally reserved for saints, Gladys raised three somewhat unruly children while retaining a home in Albany and simultaneously moving all across the western half of the United States, following power line jobs with her partner in crime. As her unruly children grew into moderately more well-behaved adults, she would regularly find herself working in the office, or as a flagger, for the various power line construction companies that her husband ran crews for.
Their various job locations included multiple towns and cities in: Oregon, Washington, California, Idaho, Utah, Nevada, Montana and Illinois.
In 2011, they retired to their longtime Albany home after their final six-year stint in Illinois.
Upon their return, she planted her roots deep and was happy to spend her days at home amongst a multitude of family and friends who would visit them regularly. Her home always bustled with activity.
While she sparkled in her roles as a wife and mother, she was absolutely radiant as a grandmother. Whether they were infants, toddlers, or awkward teens, she was always available to give snacks, love, and guidance in great abundance.
Her family was always her favorite pastime, but Gladys was also a sports nut, especially over her Portland Trailblazers and Seattle Seahawks. As a fan of both the OSU Beavers and the U of O Ducks, her home was neutral territory during Civil War games.
In addition to sports, she loved to crochet, garden, explore new recipes to cook, and stalk her kids and grandkids on social media.
Gladys is survived by her husband, Edward; children Sher Fenn, Misty Gomez, and Angela Parten; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; her mother Pearl Sanders; brothers Charles Sanders and Danny Sanders, and a very large, close-knit extended family of nephews and nieces.
She is dearly loved and greatly missed.
A viewing will be held from 4 to 6 p.m.on Saturday, August 26, at Fisher Funeral Home, 306 SW Washington St, Albany. A potluck celebration of life will commence immediately afterwards at Fairmount Grange Hall, 835 NW North Albany Road, Albany.
