Ardiss Jean Burch
December 28, 1948 – July 16, 2017

Ardiss Jean (Kennel) Burch, 68, of Monmouth, passed away Sunday at her home.
She was born the third of five children, to Earl W. And Bernice (Hooley) Kennel in Albany. She is survived by Kathleen Schweitzer, Bob Kennel and John Kennel. Deceased is Dwight Kennel.
She attended Grand Prairie Elementary on the property her great grandfather, Christian Kennel, donated to the Albany School District. She later attended Calapooia Middle School. In 1964 her family moved to Monmouth where she graduated from Central High School in 1967. While attending she was elected to Girl's State and the position of Attorney General. She then attended Heston College in Kansas for one year and then transferred to Eastern Mennonite College in Harrisonburg, Virginia. She graduated in 1971 with a B.S. degree in Home Economics Education.
After graduation she returned to Albany to teach at Calapooia Middle School where she met her husband Ron Burch. They married on August 12, 1973. After 4 years she left teaching to be a mother to her son Jordan and two years later to Justin. The family then moved to the farm in Monmouth and built a house where they lived for 42 years. In 1982 she did return to teaching at Santiam Christian High School for 20 years. She retired in 2002 to enjoy gardening, floral arranging and traveling. She enjoyed being active in the church at Prince of Peace in Adair Village and the last 14 years at Grace Bible Fellowship in Tangent. She loved her life and being a grandmother to Jordan and Kristin's sons, Tommy and Payten, and Justin and Melissa's daughter, Maren and son Owen.
There will be a celebration of life at 11:00am on Saturday July 29th at Grace Bible Fellowship.
