Anne Beutler passed away on June 22, 2017 at the age of 96. She was born to Jerry and Anna Vetr, immigrants from Czechoslovakia, on Sept. 20, 1920, in Detroit, Michigan.
She and her sister, Helen grew up in Temple, Michigan. After graduating from high school in Harrison MI, she went on to Central Michigan College, now Central Michigan University in Mt. Pleasant where she earned her teaching degree. Her teaching career spanned a period of over 30 years, teaching mostly elementary school.
She married Fay G. Beutler after he returned from World War II. They lived for a time in Weidman, MI then moved to Roscommon, and later to Holland, MI. Their love of travelling took them to many places in the United States and internationally. One of Anne's favorite places to visit was Junction City, OR where her daughter Nancy and family lived. Following the death of her husband Fay, she made her home in Eugene, OR.
She was passionate about teaching, reading, entertaining friends, travel and hosting international students. She was a life- long learner. She loved to write letters and cherished her family and friends. Anne was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Holland, Michigan.
Anne is survived by her daughter, Nancy Beutler -Abbey and her spouse Rick Abbey, her sons Eric and Luke and their wives Megan and Rose, grandson Eli, sister Helen of Lansing, Michigan, special friend, Lindell Herrick and many nieces and nephews.
She loved fresh corn on the cob and root beer floats. Have one on her!
She will be truly missed.
