Rene Moye
Rene Donald Moye of Corvallis, passed away unexpectedly in his sleep on April 18, 2017.

He was born in Salem, Oregon to William "Bill" Moye and Harriet Fritz Moye on June 29, 1938. Rene attended St. Mary's Parochial School form first through eighth grade and graduated from Albany Union High School in 1956. He received a B.S. degree from Oregon State University and an M.S. in Parks and Recreation from San Francisco State University.

Rene excelled in baseball and basketball in high school and college, and continued to play competitive basketball well into his 70's. He was still playing softball and golf. Rene served in the Army at Fort Lewis, Washington, where he played on two post baseball teams.

On June 20, 1964, Rene married Pam Freeman. They were married for over 53 years, sharing countless miles of hiking and daily road trips. They also shared laughs, with each other, at each other, and at the comedy of their every day lives.

Rene had a thirty-six year career in parks and recreation, directing programs in Oakland, California; Chehalem Parks and Recreation District outside Newberg, Oregon; and in San Bernardino, California; ending with 26 years as Parks and Recreation Director for the City of Corvallis, Oregon from 1974 until his retirement in 2000.

Friends and family knew him best for his unique, humorous Christmas cards and artistic creations which filled their homes.

He is survived by his wife, Pam; daughter, Nic Moye of Bend, Oregon; son, Caje and his wife Maria of Irvine, California; and two much adored and adoring grandsons, Graysen and Oliver Moye. Survivors also include Rene's brother, Gary Moye of Eugene, Oregon and his sister, Judy Bollman of Largo, Florida.

A gathering to celebrate Rene's life will be scheduled at a later date.
